Copyediting

Raw content that is planned for publication should undergo rigorous copyediting – this is a systematic process to:

  • Correct errors of spelling, grammar, sense, logic, style and consistency
  • Ensure that the copy flows well, and the language is appropriate
  • Check for omissions or duplications, structural problems and internal cross-referencing
  • Indicate clearly to the typesetter or graphic artist how display elements – such as figures, tables, footnotes and appendices – should appear in the layout

I can confidently tackle copyediting for all kinds of publications, including books, journals, magazine and website articles, reports, slide presentations and conference materials, as well as multimedia projects such as modular e-learning tools, websites, apps and interactive content. As part of the service, I will provide a report outlining any language, formatting or structural inconsistencies, and suggest appropriate solutions.
