I have years of experience of working with non-native English-speaking authors to help improve their chances of getting their research accepted in English language journals. In a landscape where over 90% of research in the natural sciences is published in English1, editing services for non-native English-speaking authors are in demand. Becaris Publishing and Intellect Books have become the latest publishers to partner with Enago and offer English language editing services for their authors, which I think is good thing, given that there is a wealth of global knowledge and creative thinking that deserves wider recognition and readership in English.

I’m often told that AI will soon obviate the need for published research to overcome language barriers and undergo human editorial quality control, but nuance, clarity of expression and consistency of style are still very difficult to achieve with an algorithm, so I’m not bracing myself for extinction just yet.
